Stewardship is a “Labor of Love”

When Deacon John asked me to write “something”, re: the Pirohy (Slovak) Ministry, I sought help from the Holy Spirit. So, with his help, here it goes!

My husband George and I have been involved in our parish activities for many years. We are involved in our parish festival the past 39 years in the Food Tent. When we didn’t have a festival this past August, I was “bummed!” I missed my workers, most of whom I saw at the festival. What I really missed was the fellowship and fun we had together. This made all the physical work worth it.

When I heard about the meeting to make pirohy, I thought, “why not?”  The hours spent balling the potatoes for filling, pinching the edges to make a small ridge, rolling and cutting the dough, etc. Many jobs for many hands. This labor of love was made enjoyable by the fellowship with others. Seeing “old” workers and meeting new workers made the work FUN!

God has blessed our parish with a great leader (AKA Fr. Mike), good organizers and team effort to do God’s work so that many can enjoy delicious pirohy. God’s blessings to all of us for a healthy 2021.
