Hello! My name is Becky Prelee. I am a second-grade catechist along with Randi Volk, Lisa Zalovcik and Elizabeth Ambrosia. On December 5, 2020, our second grade PSR had a community service project at Devine’s Shop n Save along with Hubbard City Police, Bill Fisher and Teddy Thirion. We have twenty-two students this year and they raised $370.00 plus non-perishable items for the St. Patrick Food Pantry.
It was a blessing to see the children sing Christmas carols and politely ask shoppers if they would like to donate to the Food Pantry.
Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Each week we teach the gospel and how important it is to follow Jesus. Some of the children are shy about speaking up in class but they were very eager in asking for donations to help those in need. Each week we remind them that it truly is better to give than to receive.
Hebrews 13:16 “And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.”
We had so many compliments on their behavior and they enjoyed being interviewed and on T.V. We want to thank all the parents for your help and support. Also, thank you to all who donated to the Food Pantry, Devine’s Shop n Save, the Hubbard city police, and our catechists for making this project a great success.
Proverbs 19:17 “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and he will reward them for what they have done.”
God bless,
Becky Prelee
