Hello! My name is Becky Prelee. I was married to the late Joe Prelee. We have five children between us. We were married January 29, 1994 in St. Patrick Church and Fr. Tim O’Neill blessed our marriage on May 31, 2008. We have been members of St. Patrick Church since 2005. In 2008 Joe and I were invited to Men’s and Women’s Renewal by my son Chris Conway and daughter-in-law, Jen. What a weekend! After Renewal, I became more involved by volunteering, donating items for different events, working the festivals, the fish fries and joining Altar and Rosary as well. Due to Joe’s health he did what he could until he passed away in 2010. In 2015-2016 I decided to get involved in our CCD program by teaching 6th grade. 2016-2017 I taught 4th grade and I was blessed this year to teach 2nd grade along with my daughter, Randi Volk and Linda Taylor. I was blessed by these children by preparing and sharing their journey of faith, teaching them prayers and the meaning of receiving the Body and Blood of Christ. Preparing them for Reconciliation and their First Holy Communion has made me want to serve our God in any way I can. This was an overwhelming feeling watching them continue their faith journey.
In class we filled 25 Christmas stockings for the residents at Liberty Health Care Assisted Living, made Christmas cards for the nursing homes, and the children made a baking basket for the Altar and Rosary Card Party.
Stewardship to me is giving my time and talents to our parish in any way I can. My mother always taught us that it’s better to give than receive and that you will be blessed many times more. I have been blessed in so many ways and I’m thankful. I have seven grandchildren in which Kyren who will be 9 in July and Kadance will be 8 in December. They too, attend our CCD program and I love watching them grow in their faith too. As the year ended, we reminded the children to continue to pray, attend Mass to be followers of Jesus and that they can be involved in parish life too.
~ Luke 18:16 “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
God bless you.
