Jesus, the Prince of Peace

I can remember growing up in the 70’s and one of the most recognizable images was the peace sign.  The peace sign was on t-shirts, posters, and every other conceivable place possible. The word peace became ingrained in our culture.

On this 4th Sunday of Advent, we are called to reflect upon peace. This peace is different than the peace we talked about in the 70’s. The peace we celebrate today is a spiritual peace that can only be found in Jesus Christ. It is a peace of harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility.

We are faced with many challenges in this ever-changing world. The world we live in can leave us looking everywhere just to find a little bit of peace in our life. We can search the earth to find the peace we desire and still come up short.

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Remind me of his everlasting peace so that I go through life seeking him for my every need. Grant me the opportunities to make peace in my relationships and be a peacemaker in situations to which I may be involved. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love,
Deacon John
