Deacon Bob Friedman grew up on the west side of Youngstown, where he attended Holy Name of Jesus parish, and graduated from Ursuline High School in 1968. He married the former Sandy Wright (a native of Hubbard) at St. Patrick Church in 1973, and has been a part of this community ever since. Deacon Bob and Sandy have two married daughters, and three grandsons, all of whom live here in Hubbard and are members of St. Patrick Parish. Before retiring in 2009 he was a letter carrier for the Hubbard Post Office..
On December 9, 1989 Deacon Bob was ordained a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Youngstown, and has served here at St. Patrick’s since that time. Over the years he has helped in a variety of ministries. Currently serving as the Pastoral associate here at Church and very active with “Christ Renews His Parish”, RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) training and formation of our Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and Readers, and our Lenten Soup Suppers. Deacon Bob assists and advises with many other church activities, also serving as a Master of Ceremonies for Bishop Bonnar throughout the Diocese (for Confirmation and other liturgical celebrations) and has been on the Diocesan Worship Commission and the Diocesan Pastoral Council.
