April 14, 2021 Update: Preparing to demo walls that need to be taken down in the Sanctuary and other parts of the building. Beginning permitting process.
March 12, 2021 Update: The clean up is still underway in the church. Notably, the organ has been dismantled and taken away for cleaning. Most of the walls have been taken down to the studs, some have been taken down, others are in need of repair. The kitchen has been gutted, the stoves, fryers and all of the equipment, as well as, the ceiling and floor have been removed. Items in the Sanctuary have been disassembled and as you know, all of the marble must be replaced. BSHM Architects, Inc. have been brought in as our architects. Our own Jay Crafton, a parishioner, is a partner in the firm. Interstate Restoration, who has been involved with the cleaning and mitigation of the church, has been hired as the General Contractor because they know the building well and know what needs to be done.
February 5, 2021 Update, The scaffolding is still going up in the church. The asbestos is being abated in the floor tiles of the hall and around the boiler. The mitigation process is going as planned and on schedule.
Thank you for your many prayers and offers to help since our church fire. The Mass schedule, including this Friday’s Mass for Life at 6:30 pm, will remain as is with Masses being held in the Parish Center. Plans are in process for the continuation of our parish life. Fr. Mike and the staff will continue to minister to the faithful of Hubbard. Updates will be posted here as they become available. At the current time the Fire Marshall has prohibited anyone from entering the church building. The kitchen end of the church hall and the sanctuary above it are badly damaged. Our plans are to move forward and restore our current church building.
Moving forward in hope guided by God’s Spirit.
Fr. Michael Swierz, pastor, and your parish staff.
Sunday January 24, 2021: St. Patrick Parish celebrated a Mass to honor and in thanksgiving for the selfless sacrifice of the Firefighters who bravely battled the church fire on Monday, January 18. They saved our church building! Above you can watch the entrance procession where firefighters carried in the crucifix that hung in the church. We sang the song by our parish friend, Vince Ambrosetti, “A Future Full of Hope”. The lyrics are from Jeremiah 29:11.
